Ken Beath is an Honorary Lecturer in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at Macquarie University. His research focuses on latent variable models, infant growth modeling, robust statistical methods, and applications of statistics in medicine. He has led two major research projects: 'Application of mixture models to robust factor analysis' (2016–2017) and 'Latent Variable Models of Infant Growth' (2006–2008).
His work spans epidemiology, clinical outcomes, and medical device safety, with notable contributions to breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma research. He has developed R packages like randomLCA and robmixglm, advancing statistical methodologies for latent class and robust analyses. His recent studies include integrated healthcare models for skin cancer treatment and statistical frameworks for diagnostic test evaluation in pandemics.
Collaborations involve multidisciplinary teams across medicine, psychology, and public health. His research emphasizes translating statistical innovations into practical medical solutions, with a focus on robust methods to handle outliers and improve data reliability.
