Kelvin Sung is a Professor at the University of Washington Bothell in the Computing and Software Systems division. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne (1992) and has extensive experience in computer graphics, serious games, and ultra reality research.

His research focuses on leveraging video game mechanics and mobile technologies to solve real-world problems, including campus navigation tools for students. He also explores reconstructing 3D environments through ultra reality simulations and teaches courses like Introduction to Game Development and Advanced 3D Computer Graphics. Grants from the National Science Foundation (Grant #0442420) and Microsoft Research (Award #15871) support his work. Kelvin contributes to academic resources through books like Build Your Own 2D Game Engine and Basic Math for Game Development with Unity 3D, which document his UWBGL library and teaching methodologies.
Kelvin previously served as an Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore and worked at Alias|Wavefront (now Autodesk), where he helped develop the Academy Award-winning Maya Renderer. His lab collaborates with the UWB Office of Admissions and the Center for Serious Play on educational technology projects.
