Kelvin Black is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Hunter College's School of Arts and Sciences, and serves as Director of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program. His academic career focuses on transatlantic literary studies with particular emphasis on the long nineteenth century.

Professor Black's research explores how political debates and historical narratives from 1789 to the First World War shaped Anglo-American political thought, particularly through British Romanticism. His projects include:
