Keltoum Rowland

Keltoum Rowland is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Science and Global Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she has taught French language courses since August 2004. She directs the Château semester program in France, co-directs the Summer program in Paris, and serves as faculty adviser for l'Association Française (French club). Additionally, she holds the diplomatic role of Honorary Consul of France for Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Her educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Teaching Languages (MATL) from the University of Southern Mississippi (1995) and a Bachelor of Arts from University Jean Monet (1992).

Rowland specializes in French language pedagogy across all proficiency levels, with emphasis on cultural immersion through study abroad initiatives. Her teaching portfolio spans beginner to advanced courses including French composition, literature, and conversation, reflecting expertise in both linguistic instruction and cross-cultural exchange. She actively promotes French language and culture within the university and local community through club leadership and consular duties.

As director of France-based study abroad programs, she facilitates immersive educational experiences while strengthening institutional partnerships. Her consular role further demonstrates commitment to fostering international relations, particularly between Mississippi and France.
