معرفی
Dr. Kelly Miles is a Research Fellow at Macquarie University, affiliated with the Department of Linguistics and Macquarie University Hearing (MU Hearing). Her research focuses on translational solutions for communication challenges faced by individuals with hearing loss and stroke survivors. She leads industry-funded projects with Cochlear, Google Research, and Sonova, emphasizing sensor technologies and biomarker profiling to assess real-world communication difficulties. Her work aims to reduce listening fatigue and social isolation through user-informed technologies.
Key collaborations include the Performance and Expertise Research Centre and Hearing CRC. She has received prestigious awards, including the Google Award for Inclusion Research (2023) and a Google Travel Grant (2024). Her research interests span auditory processing, sensor fusion, and interdisciplinary approaches to rehabilitation.
Current projects include PRISM (predicting interaction difficulties via sensors), MOSAIC (motion and sound sensor studies), and Enhancing Inclusion through Sensor-Fusion networks. She actively supervises students exploring stroke-hearing loss intersections and advises on grants integrating clinical and technological innovation.
Dr. Miles’ labs employ cutting-edge tools like physiological sensors and real-world acoustic modeling, with a focus on co-designed solutions rooted in lived experiences. Her work bridges clinical research, engineering, and education to create impactful technologies improving communication accessibility.
