Kelly M. Babchishin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Carleton University, where she directs the Sexually Harmful Behaviour Research Lab. Her research examines the etiology and assessment of sexually harmful behaviors, with particular focus on online sexual offending, risk assessment methodologies, and sibling sexual interactions.
Babchishin's work employs epidemiological frameworks to investigate factors contributing to sexual offending behaviors. Current research projects examine causal mechanisms in sexual offending, non-consensual sharing of sexual materials, and refinement of risk assessment tools. Her lab utilizes diverse methodologies including population-based studies, family-based designs, and advanced statistical approaches.
Research has been supported by grants from SSHRC, the Tech Coalition Safe Online Research Fund, Carleton University, and the Royal Ottawa Hospital. Babchishin previously held research positions with Public Safety Canada and the Parole Board of Canada, bringing applied policy perspectives to her academic work.
