Kelly Layne

Kelly Layne, PhD, OTD, OTR, is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Occupational Therapy within Robbins College of Health & Human Sciences at Baylor University. She plays a key role in the Baylor Doctor of Occupational Therapy program, focusing on innovative educational practices.

Dr. Layne's research centers on the scholarship of teaching and learning, simulated learning, and occupational balance. Her work explores virtual debriefing in graduate health sciences education and experiential learning theory in occupational therapy. She has developed hybrid and face-to-face OT program content and co-authored a textbook chapter on these topics.

Her peer-reviewed publications address education, international collaboration, and community practice in occupational therapy. She has presented nationally and internationally on innovative educational practices and holds certifications in breastfeeding and cognition. Her professional activities extend to pro-bono services for community-based organizations serving adults, older adults, individuals with mental illnesses, and breastfeeding mothers.
