Kelly Chin

Dr. Kelly Chin is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she also serves as Director of Pulmonary Hypertension Research and Medical Director of the Heart Lung Clinic. She completed her medical degree and internal medicine training at UT Southwestern, followed by a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at UC San Diego. Her research focuses on pulmonary hypertension, particularly in congenital heart disease-associated PAH and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). She leads clinical trials evaluating therapies like macitentan, selexipag, and seralutinib, emphasizing real-world evidence and patient outcomes. Dr. Chin has been recognized as a Texas Monthly Super Doctor and D Magazine Top Doctor. Her contributions include pioneering work on combination therapies, treatment algorithms, and improving CTEPH diagnosis through registry analyses.

Her academic roles include directing the Pulmonary Hypertension Program (2010–2023) and co-founding the US Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension Registry. Educationally, she earned a biology degree with honors from UT Austin and a master’s in clinical sciences through UTSW’s Clinical Scholar’s Program. Her research integrates biomarker studies (e.g., CIPHER project) and hemodynamic analysis to refine PAH risk stratification. She actively collaborates on global trials assessing novel drugs like GB002 and MK-5475.
