Trushil Shah, M.D., M.S., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and holds academic roles in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He is currently the Associate Director of the Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension Program and Committee Chair of the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) at Clements University Hospital. Dr. Shah's clinical and academic leadership includes membership in several committees addressing pulmonary hypertension, including selection and research committees for advanced therapies.
His education includes a medical degree from Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College (India), internal medicine residency at St. Francis Medical Center (Illinois), and advanced training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Rush University. He earned an M.S. in clinical science from Rush University and is pursuing an MBA at the University of Texas at Dallas.
Research interests focus on pulmonary hypertension (PAH) and its intersections with COPD, congenital heart disease (CHD), and interstitial lung diseases. His work has led to clinical trials, peer-reviewed publications, and contributions to guidelines for managing pulmonary embolism and critical care outcomes in PAH patients. He actively investigates prostacyclin therapies, robotic bronchoscopy safety, and multidisciplinary approaches to complex respiratory conditions.
Professional affiliations include the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, and Pulmonary Hypertension Association. His clinical contributions span acute respiratory distress syndrome, right ventricular dysfunction, and translational research in pulmonary vascular diseases.
