Dr. Kelly Caine is a Professor at Clemson University’s School of Computing in the Human-Centered Computing Division. She is currently a Fulbright-NSF Cyber-Security and Critical Infrastructure Scholar at the University of Iceland. As founder and co-director of the Humans and Technology Lab, she leads research in human factors, cybersecurity, privacy, and human-computer interaction.
- Ph.D. & M.S. in Engineering Psychology from Georgia Institute of Technology
- B.A. in Psychology from University of South Carolina
Her research spans privacy, aging in place technology, usability of cybersecurity systems, and digital news authentication. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and co-authored the book Understanding Your Users: A Practical Guide to User Research.
Recent work includes AI awareness education modules, cryptographic provenance for news verification, and voice-user interface design for older adults. Her research has been supported by grants from NSF, ONC/HHS, and I3P.
