Kelly C. Jensen is a Professor of Spanish at Samford University, affiliated with the Howard College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of World Languages and Cultures. She joined the faculty in 2000, motivated by the university's small student-to-faculty ratio and robust language programs. Her current courses include Human Rights in Latin American Literature, Spanish for Business, Spanish Music seminars, and Freedom and Repression in Latin American Literature.
Her research explores how humans define nationality, enact nationalism, and connect to Latin American cultural narratives. Key themes include human rights, cultural identity, and sociopolitical expression in literature and society. Jensen emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, bridging literature, cultural critique, and language pedagogy.
Outside academia, she participates in hand bell ensembles, outdoor activities, and cultural travel.
