Dr. Kelly Boudreau is an Associate Professor and Program Lead of Game Studies & Design at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. She holds a Ph.D. in Film Studies (Concentration in Game Studies) from Université de Montréal and degrees in Sociology from Concordia University. Her work bridges sociology, film studies, and game studies, focusing on digital games, player behavior, and game culture. She has taught and presented globally, emphasizing global perspectives in teaching and research.
Research Interests:
- Mediated sociality in digital gameplay
- Player/avatar hybridity in networked play
- Toxic gaming culture and solutions
- Microstreaming authenticity and labor dynamics
Her recent publications explore cozy games aesthetics, streaming culture authenticity, and transgressive gameplay. She actively contributes to HU’s Game Design Program, including organizing student showcases. Her education background and international experience enrich her interdisciplinary approach to game design education.
