Kelly Baker is a Lecturer in Exercise Science at Charles Sturt University’s School of Allied Health, Exercise and Sports Sciences, and an Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES) with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Her research focuses on chronic conditions, particularly gastrointestinal and inflammatory disorders, with an emphasis on underrepresented populations.

Dr Baker’s work combines qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including national surveys and laboratory experiments, to explore the immune-modulating effects of exercise. Her research has expanded into women’s health, aiming to develop tailored therapeutic approaches for chronic inflammatory disorders. Key trends in her publications highlight exercise’s role in improving quality of life for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients and the intersection of lifestyle interventions with clinical outcomes.
She teaches anatomy, physiology, and Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) subjects. Her collaborations span internal and external CSU academics, with research outputs including peer-reviewed articles and her doctoral thesis.
