Kelley Fong is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Irvine. Previously, she held a position at Georgia Tech’s School of History and Sociology. Her research focuses on poverty, inequality, child welfare systems, and social policy. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Policy from Harvard University, with additional degrees from Stanford and Harvard. Fong’s work has been supported by prestigious fellowships, including the Doris Duke Fellowship and National Science Foundation grants. Her award-winning book, Investigating Families: Motherhood in the Shadow of Child Protective Services, critically examines CPS interventions. She actively engages with policy debates, organizing academic sessions on social welfare programs and advocating for marginalized families.
