Dr. Keith Smith is a Lecturer (Education) in International Politics at King's College London's Department of Political Economy, part of the School of Politics & Economics. He joined the university in 2017 as a Teaching Fellow and previously taught at the University of Strathclyde and University of Glasgow. His research focuses on International Relations theory, international security, just war ethics, and transnational war volunteers.
Keith's academic work critically engages with realist traditions, particularly E.H. Carr's contributions, and examines case studies such as U.S. foreign policy and the Persian Gulf Security Complex. He has been recognized for his teaching excellence, winning the 2021 Sustained Excellence Award. His publications explore structural realism, diplomatic historiography, and security policy analysis.
Keith is currently based at Bush House North East Wing and holds office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays. He is not currently accepting PhD students.
