Keith Shimko is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Purdue University, where he has been a faculty member since 1989. His research focuses on international relations, U.S. foreign and defense policy, international security, and international relations theory.

Recent publications highlight his expertise in foreign policy analysis, military innovation, and metaphorical reasoning in international affairs. His 2015 book, The Foreign Policy Puzzle, explores how interests, threats, and tools shape U.S. strategy, while earlier works like The Iraq Wars and America's Military Revolution (2010) examine technological and doctrinal shifts in warfare.
