Keith R. Unger

Keith R. Unger, MD, is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland, where he is affiliated with the Maryland Proton Treatment Center (MPTC). He concurrently serves as Assistant Professor of Radiation Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine and holds dual leadership roles at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital as Director of the Gastrointestinal Cancer Service and Director of the Radiation Oncology Residency Training Program.

His clinical and research expertise focuses on:

• Radiation Oncology – Advancing therapeutic techniques for cancer treatment
• Gastrointestinal Cancers – Specialized service leadership and clinical management
• Proton Therapy – Expanding regional access through the MPTC initiative

Dr. Unger facilitates patient referrals between Georgetown and the MPTC, broadening mid-Atlantic community access to proton therapy technologies. As Residency Program Director, he oversees academic training and clinical education for future radiation oncologists.
