Keith Nislow serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Conservation within the School of Earth and Sustainability at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
His research centers on aquatic ecology with a focus on mechanistic links between land use, environmental variation, and aquatic ecosystems. Dr. Nislow specializes in stream salmonid fishes, investigating how habitat conditions affect fish behavior, growth, and survival to directly inform conservation strategies. His work bridges fundamental science with practical applications in restoration and natural resource management.
Dr. Nislow holds significant advisory roles including technical adviser to the Connecticut River Atlantic Salmon Commission and the Green and White Mountain National Forests. He also contributes to scholarly discourse as Associate Editor of the North American Journal of Fisheries Management, demonstrating active engagement in both policy implementation and academic publishing within fisheries science.
