معرفی
Keith Kuwata is a Professor of Chemistry at Macalester College, where he has taught general, analytical, and physical chemistry courses since Fall 2000. His research focuses on computational and analytical chemistry within the Department of Chemistry.
Educational background:
- B.A. in Chemistry, Harvey Mudd College, 1991
- Ph.D., California Institute of Technology, 1998
His research spans Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Atmospheric Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Quantum Chemistry, and Laser Spectroscopy. Current work employs computer simulations to determine oxidation reaction mechanisms in the troposphere and predict properties of organic/transition metal systems through experimental collaborations.
Scientific recognition:
- Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award (2006) for excellence in teaching and undergraduate research
Research is funded by the American Chemical Society and National Science Foundation, involving students in quantum mechanics and statistical rate theory applications. He leads a computational chemistry research group collaborating with experimentalists. Outside academia, he is married to Alexa (a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital), and they have one daughter born in October 2004.
