Keith Hallbourg

Keith Hallbourg is a Clinical Professor at the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences, University of Massachusetts Lowell, within the Department of Physical Therapy and Kinesiology. He serves as the Graduate Admissions Coordinator and teaches multiple courses in the entry-level DPT program.

His research focuses on Functional Mobility, Patient Safety, and the use of Standardized Patients and Virtual Reality (VR) in DPT education. He investigates associations between standardized patient encounters and clinical competence, alongside AI applications in simulation training.

Recent publications highlight his work on VR integration in physical therapy education (2015) and cold exposure effects on grip strength (1998). Earlier studies in police cadet training demonstrate his interest in occupational fitness and muscle adaptation.

Scientific awards include a 2013 fellowship with Theratorr Medical, Inc. His work also involves clinical education consulting and research on pressure redistribution mattresses.
