Keith Chappell

Professor Keith Chappell is a molecular virologist and group leader at the University of Queensland, with dual appointments at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology and the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences within the Faculty of Science. His research focuses on vaccine development and understanding medically and environmentally significant viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, influenza, RSV, and Koala Retrovirus (KoRV). He co-led UQ's COVID-19 vaccine program, which progressed from sequence to clinical trials in 6 months, and co-created the molecular clamp platform for stabilizing viral antigens.
