Keila Grinberg is a Professor of History and Director of the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. She holds a PhD from Universidade Federal Fluminense (2000) and has held academic appointments at institutions including Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), Northwestern University, and New York University. Her research focuses on slavery and race in the Atlantic World, public history, and Jewish history. Key projects include the digital initiative 'Present Pasts: Memories of Slavery in Brazil' and studies on illegal enslavement and international relations in 19th-century Brazil. Grinberg has authored numerous books and articles, including A Black Jurist in a Slave Society (2019), and has received accolades such as the Frederick Douglass Book Prize Finalist (2020).
