Kefajatullah Hamidi is a part-time Lecturer at the Institute of Communication and Media Science (IfKMW) of the University of Leipzig. His academic work focuses on development communication, communication for social change, media systems in fragile states, and journalism research. He has coordinated projects like "Journalistic Training in Afghanistan" and initiated the EC4SC project funded by mikopa and Transfertage.
- Education: B.A. and M.A. in Communication and Media Studies and German as a Foreign Language from the University of Leipzig; Ph.D. on "Journalism in Fragile States: The Example of Afghanistan" (awarded DAAD Prize 2006).
- Research Interests: Media systems in post-conflict states, communication for social change, academic journalism education, and the role of media in the Global South.
- Projects: Led the "Professionalisierung der akademischen Journalistenausbildung in Afghanistan" project (funded by VW-Stiftung) and co-led the "Etablierung des Schwerpunktes Entwicklungskommunikation" project (BMBF-funded).
- Teaching: Develops research-oriented seminars on Communication for Social Change, International Media Systems, and Development Communication, emphasizing service-learning and practice transfer.
