Keely Heuer is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of Art History at SUNY New Paltz. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from New York University and a B.A. from Duke University. Her research focuses on ancient Mediterranean visual culture, particularly Greek vase-painting iconography and interactions between Greek settlers and indigenous populations of pre-Roman Italy. She has led excavations at the Sanctuary of the Great Gods at Samothrace and currently advises the Art History Association. Her awards include the SUNY New Paltz Faculty Mentor of the Year (2022) and the Whitney Fellowship (2021-2022). She organizes the SUNY New Paltz Undergraduate Art History Symposium, now the world's largest student-led event in its field.

Recent work includes a comparative study of South Italian and Etruscan iconography. She has received continuous funding through SUNY grants and national awards.
Teaching emphasizes ancient Mediterranean art, with courses on Egyptian, Greek, and Roman visual culture. She mentors students through summer programs in pre-Roman Italy and Greece, fostering hands-on engagement with archaeological sites.
