Kecia L. Fong is a Senior Lecturer at the Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania, and Editor of Change Over Time. She specializes in built environment conservation, focusing on transnational processes and Asia-Pacific heritage. Her roles include academic leadership, international conservation projects, and editorial work.

Research: Fong examines how heritage conservation interacts with identity and urban development, particularly in rapidly growing cities like Yangon. Her work critiques universalist approaches to heritage, advocating for culturally specific solutions. Current projects include the Heritage Conservation in Asia Initiative and the Pennsylvania Hospital Conservation Management Plan.
Professional Experience: She has worked with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, Getty Conservation Institute, and U.S. National Park Service on projects ranging from Cairo’s Islamic core to Zeugma, Turkey. At Penn, she designed the Vanishing Treasures technical assessment and co-led Pennsylvania Hospital preservation efforts.
