Keally McBride is a Professor of Politics at the University of San Francisco, serving as Department Chair and Program Director. She holds a PhD from UC Berkeley (2000) and teaches courses on political economy, European politics, public policy, and revolution. Her research focuses on power dynamics in contemporary capitalism, decolonization movements, and the intersection of punishment/policing with political order.
Key research areas include colonialism's legal legacy, information technology's role in capitalist structures, and grassroots social change mechanisms. She has held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell University, and previously taught at Tulane and Temple Universities.
Recent publications explore historical legal frameworks (2016), decolonization theories (2011), and carceral state dynamics (2007). Her work bridges political theory with empirical analysis of modern governance systems. McBride co-directs the Tracy Seeley Center for Teaching Excellence and serves as Book Review Editor for Theory and Event.
