Dr. Ke Xu is a Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and a Staff Psychiatrist at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. Her research focuses on stress epigenetics and social epigenomics to understand how stress and substance use affect biological aging and psychiatric disorders. She leads NIH-funded studies on addiction genomics/epigenetics and serves as Director of Stress Epigenetics at the Yale Stress Center.
- Principal Investigator, Xu Laboratory
- Secondary appointment: Biomedical Informatics & Data Science
- Education: MD (2007) from West China College of Medicine, Yale Residency (2011)
Research spans epigenetic mechanisms of addiction, stress-related mental disorders, and HIV comorbidities. Key projects include cannabis neurodevelopmental studies and multi-ancestry analyses of substance use disorders. Her work integrates genome-wide association studies with single-cell transcriptomics to uncover cell-type-specific methylation patterns.
Recent publications focus on methylation-based biomarkers for substance use, HIV pathogenesis, and racial disparities in epigenetic aging. Awards include the Lustman Resident Research Award and APA/Merck & Co Early Career Research Award.
