Kaylee Rae Wyant is a Lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), where she teaches courses in painting and drawing. She holds an MFA (2008) and BFA (2005) in Painting and Drawing from SAIC. Her academic and artistic practice focuses on contemporary art, mixed media, and figurative work, with exhibitions featured in venues like Comfort Station, ADDS DONNA, and international spaces such as Vienna’s SWDZ gallery. Wyant has received awards including the Propeller Fund Award and SAIC fellowships.
Her teaching spans multi-level studios (e.g., Painting Studio: Multi-level, Studio Drawing), emphasizing technical skill and conceptual development. Courses like Sophomore Seminar engage students in interdisciplinary strategies for creative practice. Wyant also co-directs ADDS DONNA, a Chicago-based artist-run gallery, and has participated in residencies at Harold Arts and Oxbow School of Art.
Wyant’s artwork explores themes of human experience through oil, watercolor, and unconventional materials like plaster. Recent works include Grieving the Sugar Maple (2024) and Silent Killers (2023).
