Dr. Kaye Minkyung Kang is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Sydney, affiliated with the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre. Their research focuses on electrochemistry, catalysis, and nanotechnology with applications in energy storage and materials science. Dr. Kang holds a PhD from the University of Warwick (2018), and prior roles include a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship (2019-2022) and an ARC DECRA Fellowship (2022-2025).
- Education: BSc (Ewha Womans University, 2011), MSc (Ewha Womans University, 2013), PhD (University of Warwick, 2018)
Research interests include electrochemical characterization of catalytic active sites, facet-dependent electrocatalysis on platinum surfaces, and interfacial chemistry in lithium-ion batteries. Recent work addresses nanoparticle homogeneity and electrochemical control of fluorophores for single-molecule microscopy.
Active grants include 'Unveiling Nanoparticle Homogeneity: One Particle at a Time' (ARC DP, 2025) and 'Nano Spectrochemical Imaging Platform' (2024). Awards include ARC DECRA Fellowship and Leverhulme Fellowship.
