Kay Hurst

Kay Hurst is a Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy and Programme Leader for the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice apprenticeship at Manchester Metropolitan University. As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she specializes in musculoskeletal physiotherapy education with over 20 years of teaching experience.

Her pedagogical research investigates professional transitions from clinical practice to academia, examining processes of academic socialization and identity formation. Additional scholarship explores innovative assessment methods including peer feedback systems and technology-enhanced learning approaches for manual therapy skill acquisition.

Current projects evaluate podcast-based instruction for practical skill development in physiotherapy curricula. Dr. Hurst contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across physiotherapy, first contact practitioner, and advanced practice programmes.
