Dr. Kay Dewhurst is a Technical Specialist in Accelerator Science at the Dalton Cumbrian Facility (University of Manchester), specializing in beam dynamics, accelerator technologies, and their applications. She collaborates with visiting scientists and manages two ion beam accelerators. She holds external roles as Senior Fellow at CERN (2022–2024) and Research Associate at Lancaster University (2021).
Education includes a PhD in Particle Physics (University of Manchester), PGCE in Physics/Maths (Manchester Metropolitan), MA in Autism (Sheffield Hallam), and MPhys in Physics (Manchester).
Research focuses on laser-wakefield sources, particle channelling via silicon crystals, and simulations. She organizes the annual IoP Particle Accelerators and Beams (PAB) conference and engages in public outreach through facility tours and workshops.
Her work contributes to UN SDG goals related to science and technology innovation.
