Katya Crawford

Katya Crawford is a Professor in the Landscape Architecture Department at the University of New Mexico’s School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P), and former Past President of The Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture. Her research focuses on ephemeral landscapes and their role in revealing social and environmental systems. She holds an MLA from UNM SA+P and a BLA from The Evergreen State College.

Her work spans international exhibitions and competitions, including first place in the 2017 What’s Up Paris competition and third place in the 2017 Hornachuelos competition. Key research themes include landscape literacy, representation techniques, and the design process. Her projects often address environmental and social systems through ephemeral interventions.

Awards include the 2016 Regent’s Lectureship and recognition at the Chaumont-sur-Loire International Garden Festival. She teaches courses such as Fundamentals Design Studio, Urban Typologies, and Ephemeral Landscapes for Social and Environmental Change.
