Katy Haralampides

Katy Haralampides is Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of New Brunswick, specializing in environmental hydraulics and sediment dynamics. Her research combines numerical modeling with field studies to examine sediment transport in river systems and coastal environments, with applications in ecosystem management and industrial operations.

She leads hydrodynamic investigations for the Mactaquac Aquatic Ecosystem Study (MAES), developing predictive models of sediment behavior in the Wolastoq|Saint John River system. Field research includes studies in the Bay of Fundy mudflats and Petitcodiac River restoration.

Haralampides integrates engineering ethics and social justice into technical curricula, promoting equitable practices in environmental decision-making. Her pedagogy focuses on community-engaged solutions for sustainable water resource management.
