Dr. Katy Brown is a Third Century Research Fellow in Language and Social Justice at the Department of Languages, Information and Communications, Manchester Metropolitan University. Her research examines how mainstream political and media actors normalize far-right ideologies, focusing on Ireland, France, Italy, and the UK. She holds a PhD from the University of Bath and a postdoctoral fellowship from Maynooth University.

Her research interests include far-right discourse, populism, media ethics, and research methodologies. She collaborates with journalists to develop ethical reporting guidelines that counter far-right normalization. Her work has been featured in Al Jazeera, France24, Euronews, and BFM Radio.
She is currently writing a book for Bloomsbury on far-right mainstreaming and has published articles on methodological challenges in studying extremist movements. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges sociolinguistics, political science, and media studies.
