Katsuya Yuasa is Lecturer of Clarinet at the University of Idaho's Lionel Hampton School of Music, part of the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences. He is an active concert artist with the Piatigorsky Foundation and has previously served as adjunct professor at institutions including the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Berry College, and Florida A&M University.

Yuasa is a versatile clarinetist known for performances across classical, jazz, pop, rock, and new music genres. He is a founding member of Duo Esplanade and Cosmos New Music, and has premiered works by composers such as Kenji Bunch, Valerie Coleman, and Gregory Wanamaker. His performance career includes appearances at Carnegie Hall, ClarinetFest, and various national conventions, with broadcasts on WQXR, WGBH, and WUTC.
His artistic work spans a wide range of genres and collaborative formats, reflecting a deep engagement with contemporary and cross-disciplinary music. As an educator, he has led masterclasses at institutions like Ithaca College, Radford University, and Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul, and has taught at summer programs including pianoSonoma and New York Summer Music Festival.

- First clarinetist to win the MPE International Concert Artist Competition (2017), leading to a three-year performance and educational tour
Yuasa has mentored students who have gone on to prestigious ensembles and graduate programs. He has also held leadership roles, including Secretary and Scholarships and Grants Coordinator for the Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation. His performance repertoire includes concertos by Copland, Mozart, Finzi, and new works such as Freiberg’s Latin American Chronicles.
He is actively involved in chamber music and new music initiatives, performing with ensembles like the Chattanooga Symphony Wind & Opera Wind Quintet and the Panama City Symphony Orchestra.
