Katrina Maxwell

Katrina Maxwell, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling Ministries at Saint Leo University and serves as Director of the M.A. in Human Services and M.A. in Pastoral Counseling programs. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Family Relations from Florida State University and a B.S. in Child Development from South Carolina State University.

Her research focuses on parent-child relationships, sexual abuse, poverty, and strategies to strengthen family dynamics. She emphasizes improving communication, conflict resolution, and work-life balance. Dr. Maxwell has over 15 years of academic experience, including roles as an Associate Professor at South Carolina State University and later at Saint Leo University, where she contributed to program coordination, faculty advising, and community outreach. She has engaged in professional development through conference presentations and scholarly publications.

Her professional service includes advising the Human Services Club and Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society, leading a community advisory board, and participating in initiatives funded by the Administration for Children and Families’ Healthy Marriage Initiative. She is dedicated to preparing future human services professionals through teaching and mentorship.
