Dr Katrina Long is a Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at Monash University's School of Primary and Allied Health Care. Her research focuses on implementation science and health services research, particularly in aged care, aiming to bridge the gap between evidence and practice. She leads projects addressing residential aged care challenges post-Royal Commission, including the National Aged Care Research Network (NACReN) and initiatives like PRACTIS to improve translation of interpreting services. Dr Long holds a PhD from Monash University (2019) and a BSc(Hons) from ANU (2012). She has received awards such as the 2024 Professor Keith Hill Award and the 2022 Programs that Enhance Learning Award. Teaching commitments include coordinating units on psychology and evidence-based practice in occupational therapy. Current roles include membership in the Monash Ally Network and contributions to interdisciplinary collaborations like the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research.
Research interests span co-design methodologies, health equity, and complexity theory applications in healthcare. Key projects address vaccination barriers in aged care, health information exchange during transfers, and diagnostic delays in conditions like primary aldosteronism. Dr Long collaborates nationally and internationally, recently co-authoring studies on loneliness interventions and refugee healthcare access. She actively supervises student projects in aged care implementation science and network development.
