Katrin Sieg is a Professor of German at Georgetown University, jointly affiliated with the BMW Center for German and European Studies and the Department of German (College of Arts & Sciences). She holds a Ph.D. in Drama from the University of Washington, Seattle. Prior to joining Georgetown in 2002, she taught at UC San Diego and Indiana University, Bloomington. Her research focuses on German and European culture, postcolonial and critical race studies, feminist studies, and Afro-German culture. She has authored three monographs on theater, performance, and cinema, including Ethnic Drag, which received multiple awards. Currently, her fourth book on colonial representations in German museums is under review.
- Research Interests: Queer and feminist theory, post-1945 German culture, postmigrant theater, and decolonial museum studies.
- Awards: Humboldt Fellowship and accolades for Ethnic Drag.
- Grants: Multiple grants supporting her interdisciplinary projects.
She organized conferences like “Decolonizing the Museum” and participated in an international research group analyzing the Eurovision Song Contest. Teaching includes the MAGES core course on Theorizing Culture and courses on GDR cinema and media studies. She previously chaired the Culture and Politics program.
