Prof. Dr. Katrin Höffler holds the Chair of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at the Humboldt University of Berlin since 2025. She previously held similar chairs at the University of Leipzig (2022–2025) and Georg-August University of Göttingen (2013–2022), and has been active in criminal law, criminology, and empirical legal research for over a decade.
- Education: Studied law at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (First State Examination, 2002), preceded by studies in German, Philosophy, and Art History at Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg (1996–1997).
Her research focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to criminal law, including money laundering, climate-related civil disobedience, and digitalization in crime control. Recent projects include MaLeFiZ (BMBF-funded AI for financial crime detection) and Civil Disobedience in the Climate Crisis (DFG-funded criminological analysis). She prioritizes empirical studies addressing societal challenges like extremism, decriminalization, and digital sovereignty.
