Katrin Frauchiger

Katrin Frauchiger is a Lecturer at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts within the School of Music and Institute for Jazz and Folk Music, specializing in vocal development, classical singing, and voice training.

Her educational background includes a teaching diploma from Bern University of Music and Performing Arts (HMT Bern) under Jakob Stämpfli, soloist diploma with distinction from Cambridge (USA) with Dorothea Brinkmann, and composition studies with Michael Jarrell at Zurich University of Music. She refined her skills through masterclasses with Luisa Castellani, Klessy Kelly Moog, Chaya Czernowin, and Heinz Holliger, plus formative work with Harvard New Music Group and Berklee School.

Frauchiger's research centers on contemporary vocal performance, blending classical repertoire with cross-genre experimentation in jazz, theater, and film. Her work emphasizes vocal pedagogy innovation and the intersection of composition with performance practice, particularly in contemporary music contexts where she has premiered over 30 new works by leading composers.
