She investigates dreams as a model for consciousness research, examining how trauma, pandemics, and social factors influence dream content. Her work combines evolutionary psychology with neuroimaging techniques like EEG and PET scans.
Recent publications highlight her studies on threatening dream content during crises (Holocaust survivors, Indian Ocean Tsunami), anesthesia-induced unresponsiveness, and genetic links between nightmares and psychiatric traits. She leads projects analyzing dream databases and systemic impacts of stress on sleep.
