Katja Möhring is a Professor of Sociology, especially Family and Work, at the University of Bamberg. She is also an external fellow at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES) and affiliated with the German Institute for Interdisciplinary Social Policy Research (DIFIS). Her research focuses on life course dynamics, old age wellbeing, gender inequality in pension wealth accumulation, caregiving impacts on labor force participation, and aging among migrants in Europe.
- Education: Social Sciences (B.A.) at Humboldt University of Berlin, PhD in Sociology at the University of Cologne (2013).
- Prior Roles: Assistant Professor of Sociology of the Welfare State and Interim Chair of Macrosociology at the University of Mannheim (2018–2021).
- Labs/Teams: Active in ESPAnet Germany, editorial boards of Journal of Social Policy Research and Work, Aging and Retirement, and PI of projects like MIG-AGE (Volkswagen Foundation) and AGE-WEALTH (FNA Research Network).
