Katja Goldflam, MD is an Associate Professor and Associate Residency Director in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. She completed her MD at Brown University, residency at Harvard, and an emergency ultrasound fellowship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital. Her work focuses on medical education, resident feedback systems, competency assessment, and leadership development. She has pioneered innovations in emergency medicine curricula, including wilderness medicine and palliative care training. Dr. Goldflam is a nationally recognized educator, having received the 2017 ACEP National Teaching Award and the 2024 Rosemarie L. Fisher Excellence in GME Award. She collaborates with colleagues on research addressing nursing feedback practices, resident productivity tracking, and simulation curricula diversity gaps. Her academic roles include shaping Yale’s emergency medicine residency program through didactic redesign, wellness initiatives, and resuscitation training.
Education: MD from Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University (2006), BA in Biology from Brown University (2002). Board-certified in Emergency Medicine since 2011.
Research Interests: Resident education systems, interprofessional feedback mechanisms, virtual learning environments, and advancing diversity in medical training through curriculum design. Active in national surveys analyzing residency program dynamics and Match trends.
Achievements: Developed resident wellness programs, introduced text-message nudges for feedback compliance, and led initiatives to integrate LGBTQ+ representation in simulation training. Co-founded the Resident Distinction in Education curriculum for future physician educators.
