Dr. Katie Slatton is an Instructional Associate Professor in the Department of Liberal Studies (Kinesiology) at Texas A&M University at Galveston. She holds a B.S. in Kinesiology (2001) and an M.A. in Education (2001), both from the University of Montevallo. Her professional certifications include Crossfit Level 1, NSCA membership, and AFFA certifications in Mat Pilates and Kickboxing. Her research and teaching focus on health science, exercise physiology, and fitness education.
Dr. Slatton teaches courses like Science of Basic Health and Fitness, CPR ExFit, Yoga, Pilates, and Strength Training. She has authored three major textbooks for TAMUG's KINE program, emphasizing practical applications of fitness assessment and behavioral change. Her service contributions include advising soccer, weight training, and wrestling clubs; leading the GACD Search Committee; and organizing community events like the Turkey Trot.
Professionally, she balances academic roles with community service, including SCFC soccer coaching, Fun Run volunteering, and disability advocacy. Her personal passions include animal rescue through her farm, family life, and yoga.
