Dr. Katie Reilly is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham's School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Her research focuses on ecotoxicology, particularly the impacts of anthropogenic stressors like microplastics in aquatic environments. She also actively engages in science communication and public outreach projects, such as 'Daphnia Detectives of a microplastic problem.'
Reilly holds a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science, an MSc in Applied Marine Science, and a PhD in Environmental Science. Her work bridges environmental nanoscience and toxicology, with recent contributions to nanomaterial safety research and data harmonization for environmental evaluations.
Her scientific achievements include membership in the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry and an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. She collaborates on projects like CompSafeNano and MACRAMÉ, addressing safe-by-design nanomaterials and environmental risk assessment.
