Katie Pamment is a Lecturer at the University of the Highlands and Islands, affiliated with the Centre for Living Sustainability. She holds a BA (Hons) in Illustration from Falmouth University (2002), an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art (2007), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (Creative Arts) from Falmouth University. Her work bridges illustration, education, and environmental advocacy.
Research interests include 'Illustration, Young Audiences and the Environment,' exploring human communities’ relationships with landscapes and wildlife, as well as authorial practice in children’s book art, sequential illustration, and creative publishing. She has exhibited solo and group works in the UK, including at the Illustration Cupboard in London.
Her publications include internationally recognized children’s books such as Can’t Dance Cameron and Memory Bottles, which blend storytelling with ecological themes. Awards include Book Trust recognition, an Arts Business award, and a research grant focusing on illustration’s role in environmental education.
Her professional practice spans illustration for major publishers like Usborne Books and the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland. She actively explores animation and learning-through-illustration methodologies, integrating creative arts into sustainability education.
