Katie Macica

Katie Macica is a Research Fellow in Public History at the University of Oregon, affiliated with the Department of History within the College of Arts and Sciences. She teaches courses in public history and environmental history while coordinating internships for history students.

• Education: PhD in US and Public History from Loyola University Chicago

Her research intersects environmental history, urban history, and military history, focusing on the reciprocal impacts of warfare and environmental change. Notable projects include curating digital/physical exhibits and co-authoring the National Register of Historical Places nomination for Chicago's Sauganash Historic District.

Recent publications highlight her expertise in WWII environmental impacts and industrial urbanization. She has worked at institutions including the National Archives at Seattle and the Library of Congress.
