Katie Lotterhos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences at Northeastern University and leads the Conservation Genomics and Evolution Lab at the Marine Science Center in Nahant, MA. Her research integrates eco-evolutionary genomics, ecological modeling, and climate science to study how climate change impacts marine biodiversity and informs sustainable resource management.
- NSF CAREER award
- Fulbright scholarship
Her lab develops statistical methodologies to analyze ecological, genomic, and environmental data, focusing on marine organisms' adaptation to stressors like ocean acidification, pollution, and invasive species. Current projects address oyster aquaculture resilience, seagrass restoration, and fisheries management through evolutionary frameworks. The lab trains undergraduate and graduate students via internships, global workshops, and online tutorials, while also leading collaborative networks like the Research Coordination Network for Evolution in Changing Seas.
Lotterhos emphasizes inclusive scientific practices, actively promoting diversity in marine science through anti-discrimination policies and community outreach to K-12 students in the Boston area.
