معرفی
Dr. Emma Thompson is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney's School of Life and Environmental Sciences. She transitioned from a marketing career in wildlife conservation to academia, completing a Master's in Environmental Sciences (University of Sydney) and a PhD in Marine Biology (Macquarie University) focusing on molecular impacts of contamination and climate change on Sydney Rock oysters. Her postdoctoral work at Macquarie University included a Senior Research Fellow position on an ITTC grant, collaborating with the Sydney Institute of Marine Science and DPI Fisheries Port Stephens.
Her research interests center on biomarkers in aquatic species, resilience mechanisms in marine organisms against environmental stressors, and the molecular effects of ocean acidification and contaminants. Key areas include proteomic analysis of disease resistance in oysters and adaptive responses to climate change. Thompson's work bridges laboratory studies with field observations to inform conservation strategies for marine ecosystems.
Collaborations involve multidisciplinary teams addressing real-world environmental challenges. Her research outputs emphasize translational science with direct applications to aquaculture and marine conservation. Grants and fellowships have supported her exploration of transgenerational acclimation to ocean acidification and metal contamination impacts on oyster genomics.
