Katie Kerr is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Centre for Public Health, School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences, Queen's University Belfast. Her research focuses on rare diseases, epigenetics, and whole genome sequencing, with a particular emphasis on kidney transplantation and public health applications.

As a key contributor to the 100,000 Genomes Project, she has conducted epigenome-wide analyses and developed frameworks for multi-omic disease research. Her work has been published in high-impact journals like Kidney International Reports and Genes, with recent research (2025) providing global insights into rare disease definitions. She actively organizes and participates in rare disease research workshops and STEAM-powered public engagement events to promote translational research.
